Just The Print 1" Border has a plain white 1" border on all sides, to allow space for matting. Its intended for easy shipping to you, to then be matted and framed by your local framer. Only the print is included. 

For Matted Prints: The mat size is in addition to the print size, on each side. 

For example: 1" Mat: Your print will be matted 1" beyond the ordered print size, on each side.  For example, an 8"x12" print will have a 10"x14" mat. Up to 1/8" of each edge of the print may be covered by the inner edge of the mat. Matted paper prints arrive with 1/4" foam core backing.

For example: 2" Mat: Your print will be matted 2" beyond the ordered print size, on each side.  For example, an 8"x12" print will have a 12"x16" mat. Up to 1/8" of each edge of the print may be covered by the inner edge of the mat. Matted paper prints arrive with 1/4" foam core backing.

*Recommended* I recommend ordering the prints matted and framed. They arrive straight to your door with the hanging hardware, ready to hang on your wall. Matting and framing artwork can be quite expensive, and it takes time to find a good local framer, choose and buy the frame, drop off the artwork, pick it up, and transport the glass. By ordering the prints matted, framed, and shipped straight to your door, it takes the guess work out of it, as I have personally scoured through framing options for affordable, chic, gallery quality frames. Not to mention, they make great ready to go gifts!! That being said, I love a do-it-yourselfer, and know sometime people prefer to have artwork matted and framed themselves, so I give the option to handle the matting and framing yourself.
